sun burns and aloe vera!

Hey friends and family! It's been a very fun past few days - we had a small slew of nights without concerts in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, so we were able to do some sightseeing in SF (Golden Gate Bridge/Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39) and go ride some rides at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk! It was great weather - one of our tour member's family let us use their jet skis too, so we spent half a day at Anderson Lake in San Jose jet skiing and relaxing. Unfortunately, that also meant that half of our tour got sunburned and are now basking in globs of aloe vera. :)

We are preparing for the big 40th anniversary celebration in Yorba Linda, CA! That also means that the tour is also preparing for our final nights together. Last night, I finally deemed it worthy that we learn the 'Family song' for our praise and worship time together. It's going to be hard to part from each other, but we all know that it's coming, so we are getting ourselves ready for that.

Thank you for our faithful readers. We really appreciate your support and prayers!

It's been a while...

Hello! So I do apologize that it's been so long since I've updated this blog. Tour 4 has gone clear across the country from Nebraska to Oregon all in the span of one week! Needless to say, there have been some long drives and pretty early call times in the morning.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of performing in the small town of Prescott, Washington in an outdoor park venue. This was the first time anyone has ever came to this town, and we really saw the Lord working in the community. Almost the entire population of that town showed up (about 300 people!) and we could really feel the Lord's presence. And the energy that the crowd gave the kids - it was incredible!

We have been challenging the YCs everyday with some hard-hitting Scripture from the book of James:
"Do not merely listen ot the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does."- James 1:22-25

It has been my privilege to see the Lord working in the lives of these young teenagers. I see them daily putting the word of God into practice, which encourages me and my leadership team so much. It gives us the strength and hope to continue in what we do. Praise Jesus!

Have you ever wished that you could have 3 eyes?

Yes, this was one of the questions that one of our YCs asked in our 'getting to know you game.' And honestly, I sometimes think that have a third eye in the back of my head would be particularly useful as a director. :)

Highlight of the past few days: we didn't have a concert today, so we did some sightseeing in Colorado. We went to the Garden of the Gods, a beautiful place with amazing rock structures that make you feel SO small, and realize that God is SO big! We then visited the United States Airforce Academy in Colorado Springs, where we got to see the cadets fall in and visit the famous Cathedral that is there. It has worship rooms for 5 of the major religions represented at the academy. It was gorgeous! At night, we were staying at Loyd and Laura Anderson's (our bus driver and his wife) relatives place, and we set up part of our equipment and had a concert in their backyard! We went around and knocked on doors, and some neighbors came by. It was really amazing, since the Anderson's relatives and most of their friends are Mormon - what a great witnessing opportunity that the Lord set up for us!

Here are some pictures of our adventures!

Oh Colorado.....!

Hey everyone! So God has been working miracles for us. Yesterday night we didn't have a concert, and I honestly, was worrying that we didn't have enough money for 7 motel rooms, dinner, breakfast, lunch, AND to fill up our gas tank in the morning. (We definitely did not have enough). But yet again, God provided for us literally in our hour of deepest need. As we were approaching Grand Junction, CO and Maggie from the office was frantically scurrying to find the cheapest motel available, we were able to get a hold of the Hillmans in Delta CO - a family whose daughter Jaelee toured with me last year. The Hillmans graciously took us in, fed us dinner, and were able to find housing among their church family for ALL of us within the span of 2 hours! They even gave us a delicious breakfast in the morning. What a blessing! Why do I even worry about such things? Obviously, the Lord knows what He's doing. :)

Today, since we were super close to our concert site, we were able to experience the beautiful Colorado mountains by taking a hike up to Hanging Lake. It was tough (good thing the ycs are in shape with all that choreo they do!) but completely worth it! It was a great break too from traveling all day yesterday. I'll try to get a picture up soon. :)

Well...God is placing us in deeper need of Him - which honestly, is the best place we can be! Please pray that there will never ever ever be a day that we don't need the Lord. That would be a tragic day indeed.

God bless!

Hey Tour 4! (For Sure!)

Well, the Young Continentals Tour 4 have been on the road for exactly one week now - and we have been SO blessed already! After a wave of sickness (and I mean severe sickness) struck all but 2-3 people on our tour, we are back and healthy and ready to see how else God will work in and through us.

A HUGE praise: Hannah Lasley and Chris Edwards are our two newest YC leaders that joined our tour last week, and they have jumped right in to the craziness that is a young continental tour. The kids love them! Heidi and I are so thankful for them - not only because both of us are technologically handicapped, but because the 4 of us laugh...a LOT!

We're in Central Valley, UT tonight after an AMAZING concert! The past week was very spiritually difficult for our tour, but after a good time of surrendering everything to the Lord and studying Ephesians 4:17-5:21, the Lord has revived us and our concert was filled with the spirit tonight. One of the best moments of tonight's concert? - Seeing the Holy Spirit manifest itself in the tears of a teenage girl, and having a 7 year old boy give his last 4 dollars to our bus fund after buying a CD and a t-shirt. God is SO good!

Well, I'm being housed with all the boys, my leadership team and Loyd and Laura (our bus driver and his wife!) tonight (I know - that's a lot of ppl!) and they're cutting us watermelon! Goodnight and God bless!

Love, Tif
